Many of us have best friends. We
call them that because they have proven to be a better friend to us than other
friends have. We enjoy being around them predominantly more so than we do
being around others. They seem to understand us a little bit better than others
do.
Some other qualifications of a best
friend may include having your back no matter what. Even when you’re in the
wrong not to promote your wrong doing, but to let you know that they are there
for you, that there in your corner. With all the qualifications we feel fit the
description of a best friend, to be in a friendship we must exhibit some of
these same qualifications that we expect from our friend.
Proverbs 18:24
A man that hath friends must shew himself
friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.
What we can take from this is that,
Jesus fits the description and qualifications of being anyone’s and everyone’s
best friend. No one knows you like He does; no one has always been in your
corner like He has, and no one will ever love you as much as He does.
John 15:15
Henceforth
I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all
things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.
Grab and go: Some of us, at one
point and time, being in a relationship have heard someone say that if they had
to they would die for us. That if it came down to it they would risk (sacrifice)
there life for the sake of our own lives. The difference with Jesus is that, when
that opportunity came He didn't just say, He did.
